Biography

Growing up with nothing to do in Milwaukee, WI, Mike Krol found himself spending all his free time with a skateboard under his feet and punk rock in his headphones. With a natural ability to draw and an instant appreciation for art, Mike Krol had all the ingredients for graphic design, but didn't even know the term existed until his senior year of high school.

Upon high school graduation, Mike Krol decided to get as far away from Wisconsin as possible and attend the School Of Visual Arts in New York City. It was there he learned poster design from James Victore, design for the music industry from Mike Joyce, conceptual thinking from Paul Sahre, and type design and handlettering from Ed Benguiat. During his senior year of college, Mike Krol worked at the Type Director's Club, helping organize their annual design competition.

After four years in New York, Mike Krol began to miss the Midwest. In 2006, Mike Krol graduated from SVA and moved back to his home state of Wisconsin. Mike lived and worked in Madison for three years at Planet Propaganda.

In 2009, Mike Krol's beautiful and talented girlfriend started her MFA degree in Painting at Yale University in New Haven, CT. Mike Krol decided to join her and now works for himself out of his small apartment. Please give him money.

Mike Krol also wants it to be known that although Graphic Design is nice, his main passion will always be music. Mike Krol got his first drum set in sixth grade and picked up a guitar in 9th grade. He continues to compose fast, catchy punk songs about girls and dinosaurs. A CD is in the works under his stage name, World Denominators.

Mike Krol has been writing about himself in third person this whole time and now feels dirty.
